A nested language element is contained inside another element of the same type, producing more complex behaviour which should reflect complexity in the data. The element type is typically a control structure in programming languages, but HTML tables and lists are also commonly referred to as nested. Coders should generally be wary of increased complexity as it can lessen the code's readability.
